2019 • The Identity Conflict: Rebuilding the Core Audience

With our rapid influx of new followers came an unavoidable challenge: a deep conflict of interests within our audience. Because Klineduo evolved from a personal profile where I originally shared memes, travel photos, and engaged with hashtag gain trains, our follower base was heavily fragmented. A segment of the old audience began spamming our newly featured art with engagement-killing comments like "fff" and other automated spam. At this time, I was following the platform-maximum limit of 7,500 accounts. Realizing that blocking users wasn't enough to build an authentic, creative-to-creative fan base, I had to make a painful but logical choice: purge the page of the old niche. Manually unfollowing over 7,000 accounts inside the Instagram app took a massive toll. The platform flagged the sudden activity as suspicious, hitting the account with persistent app warnings, threats of restriction, and temporary engagement blocks.

The Algorithm Crucible • Navigating a Staggering Loss of Reach

The true damage of the audience purge revealed itself immediately after. Klineduo’s organic reach crashed from a booming 10,000+ accounts to a staggering 1,000 or fewer. Average post performance collapsed to a painful 50–100 likes with zero engagement, down from our thriving average of 300+ likes and deep, insightful commentary. It felt like a severe shadowban; followers were dropping daily, and posts reached less than 30% of our remaining community. Afraid of permanently losing the account after being mistaken for an automated bot, I spent days researching account revival strategies. Out of desperation to prove to the algorithm that Klineduo was operated by a real human being, I invested in paid advertising campaigns. While the ad results were somewhat positive, relying on continuous paid promotion to maintain standard visibility was financially unimaginable.

The Breakthrough • Choosing the World Wide Web Over Defeat

This sudden collapse heavily disturbed my peace of mind. Watching a platform that had been thriving just days before turn into a quiet, low-performing space felt like an absolute catastrophe. The weight of the situation was compounded when, out of every five features I carefully curated, two would result in stressful direct-message takedown requests—all of which I complied with immediately out of deep respect for the artists. I was consumed by self-doubt and experienced a strong emotional urge to delete the entire page and start fresh. However, I resisted acting on that impulse; I had built an unbreakable bond with this page. In that moment when my mental strength was tested the most, a precise idea emerged by God's will: expand beyond social media and build a dedicated website for Klineduo. I couldn't afford a professional web developer and had no coding knowledge, but I refused to let the limitations of a single social media platform dictate our future. I dove into intense research to find a powerful, secure, no-code website builder that was easy to learn—laying the exact blueprint to connect our featured creatives to a truly global audience on the world wide web.
